Who are we, and what is our club doing?

First Pic

We are a group of dedicated car Modelers who are currently members of the Delaware Valley Scale Modelers club, which is a local IPMS chapter. It's a club of seventy or so model builders, and covers all types of model building. This includes cars, as well as aircraft, ships, armor and figures. While it's a diverse, and interesting group of people, we car Modelers have been the small minority until recently.

In September 1999, members Jim Durso and Jamie Makin set out on a mission to find more car builders from the Philadelphia and South Jersey area. We knew they were out there based on the attendance at area model kit shows. It has been a huge success so far. In the last year, we have brought over a dozen new car Modelers into the club. Everyone is having a great time at our meetings, and enjoying the new friendships we are forming.

Jim Durso is also a member of a local classic car club (1:1 scale), which has been including model car displays, contests and make-it-and-take-it events at its semi-annual shows. He has been active in running the new car club and in recruiting new members as well as building award winning models. Jamie Makin is a devoted car modeler as well and has built her share of award winning models also.

The Delaware Valley Scale Modelers meet on the first Friday of every month, at 7:30 pm, at Artisan's Hall, 8100 Roosevelt Blvd. (Rt. 1), in Northeast Philadelphia. If you build model cars, and would like to meet others who share your hobby, we would love to see you at our meetings. For information on how to meet with us please contact:
